General
Lots of families in ancient Greece relied on farming to put food on the table. Grapes were commonly grown and were either kept as food or made into wine. People enjoyed going to the theater and watching works that related to their own lives. The daily lives of people varied depending on age, gender, and social class.
Men
Men were the only ones allowed to be citizens in Ancient Greece. Some days they would come together to vote, or discuss important issues. Many men at the time were training for or in battle. Men commonly went to the theater to see a show with friends.
Women
Women were usually confined to the home. They spent their time doing domestic work (cooking, cleaning, making clothing, etc.) They were not supposed to be in public like the men. The only time women were out of the home was when they were acted as a priestess in a local temple. Women were not allowed to be citizens therefore they could not hold any positions in government.
Children
In most city-states, children would sped their time playing with toys and games. Older male children would attend school and the girls would learn domestic skills from their mothers. In ancient Sparta, male children began training for battle at the age of seven.
Slaves
Most families had a slave(s). They were usually women and they cooked, cleaned, and collected fresh water. Male slaves protected the home and tutored the male children.
