Ancient Greece was made up of many different city-states, all close together. They all basically wanted to be the best city-state, and who doesn't want to be the best? So they fought a lot, even if it was over silly things.

Other city-states were not the only problems. Sometimes other countries would invade Greece for whatever reason. Most of the time, ancient wars were over land and expansion. Everyone wanted to expand their empire and if that meant killing and taking over other civilizations, they'd do it.

Many of the ancient Greek weapons were very common in most places. One of the examples were the spear and sword. The spears ranged from 6 to 8 feet long. They had an iron head and a wooden shaft. Hoplites used swords in battle and the swords could be double sided. The sword was typically used after the spear was thrown or it broke. Another form of weaponry used was the armor and shield. This protected them from the flying spears and slashing swords. The Greeks also used helmets to protect themselves while in battle, too.
