The Olympics were first started in 776 B.C. The games were taken very seriously in ancient Greece and were not taken lightly. Every city-state was dying to win and stopped at nothing to achieve it. It was so important, that if a war was occurring at the time of the Olympics, the war was "paused" for the duration of the games. The events in the Olympics included: Discus, equestrian events, javelin, jumping, running, and wrestling.

The Spartans were ideal athletes. They were beaten and whipped to become great soldiers, which made their bodies ready for the competition. They did anything to win. Lying and cheating were common for the Spartans. Even if they had no chance at winning, their other goal was to ensure that the Athenians didn't win. They would even talk to other city-states and convince them to sabotage the Athenians.

The Athenians were fair, and good sports. They tried their personal best at all times, and wanted the Spartans to lose. They also spoke with other city-states to try and strategize against the Spartans.
