The ancient Greeks were polytheistic. The Greek religion was based off of the worship of nature and gods/goddesses. The most famous of these gods was Zeus. He was the god of weather and was the king of the gods. He was married to the goddess Hera. The gods and goddesses represented things that were important to the ancient Greeks. They used them to describe things that they did not understand yet. As science progressed, the use of the gods as an explanation decreased. The many gods and goddesses were said to have lived on Mount Olympus with Zeus as the ruler.
